Hebridean Cuddly Baa
Made from 100% Hebridean wool. This Cuddly Baa is about 8 inches high (20 cms) and about 9 inches (23 cms) long. They are designed as collector items and are not suitable for children under 3 years of age. However a shorn variation (ie without the woolly coat) is available at a slightly lower price.
As their name suggests, these hardy little sheep come from the Hebridean Islands. They were possibly brought there by the Vikings when they invaded Scotland and its islands. They are classed as a primitive breed and are very similar to the Soays in size and character. However, the Hebrideans are always black and can have 2, 4 or more horns on both sexes. These horns will continue to grow throughout the life of the sheep so can become quite heavy on an older animal. They are classed as a Minority breed, having become very popular with hand spinners for their high quality black fleeces.
